The Freedom Festival sponsors multiple educational contests each year. The 2023 theme is focusing on the entire First Amendment.

The art contest is an opportunity for students from K to 12 grade to create and complete a work that can have a positive influence on others. It is intended to help students cherish our freedoms. The theme this year is the First Amendment to the Constitution.
Each year the Freedom Festival Essay Contest gives rise to expressions of patriotism from students in K-12th grades nationwide. The theme this year is the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Open to high school students in grades 9 – 12.
THEME: The First Amendment to the Constitution.
Win up to $500.00 for each division.
Education is vital in the preservation of freedoms. Teachers who instill devotion to liberty are crucial. The Freedom Festival teacher contest is an opportunity for teachers to be recognized for their work in the classroom. The theme this year is based on the First Amendment to the Constitution. Curriculum is available on the Freedom Festival website that can aid the teacher.
Win up to $500.00 and the chance to have your video played at some of America’s Freedom Festival’s patriotic events including the Stadium of Fire.
In a 1 to 2:30 minute video, students may choose to illustrate purposes and applications of the First Amendment to include its history, adoption, and recognition of significant individuals involved. Or they may focus on any concept or specific freedom included in the First Amendment such as the Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom to peacefully Assemble, and Freedom to Petition the Government.
Judging criteria will be based on how well you can tell a compelling story through video with attention to visual impact and artistic detail, while offering an inspirational message to your audience.
Judging Categories K-12 grades.

Fifth-grade students from more than 100 schools gather in the Marriott Center at BYU each spring to celebrate America’s freedom through song, choreography, video, and sign language. The Hope of America School Spirit Contest recognizes schools with the highest percentage of participation and pays special tribute to the school’s efforts to endear patriotism. Entry deadline for School Spirit contest is April 26.
